Quite simply because Ed Hall's Propeller Company are sublimely unconscious of their own sexuality. They're not men playing women's roles, they're men playing roles. And although I would rather have seen it outdoors, they and designer Michael Pavelka have brilliantly turned the Comedy into a semi-circular space like a cabaret venue. So Hall has decided that the dream of the title is just that, a sleepy fantasy, shot through with moments of manic activity. Like the RSC when it was founded by Ed Hall's father Sir Peter, Propeller has a coherent purpose and mission.
