Miss Jones moved the mare into the lead approaching the home turn and kept on well to defeat Benjamins Law by 2½L. Jones is assistant to winning trainer Les Eyre, who said: "I'm delighted for her, this is a nice way to do it. "Cashmirie should have won on the book but these good things have a nasty habit of being turned over." Legs Be Frendly had looked a certain winner a furlong out but Fergal Lynch's persistence was rewarded when his mount hit the front close home for a ¾L win. Paul Morrison, representing owner Saeed Manana, praised Lynch saying: "It was a rough race and Fergal did well. "He was murdered at the start and then suffered interference when he started to make his move." The John Gosden-trained colt forged to the front in the straight and kept on well to hold Dantesque by 1¼L. Owner Sheikh Mohammed's representative Paul Morrison said: "He's a bit nervous and this will have done him good. "He doesn't take after Singspiel in any way and we're going to have to see what the handicapper does now." The 4/1 chance kicked for home over two out and coasted four lengths ahead of the eventual runner-up Bowlers Boy. Ray Thorpe, travelling head lad to trainer Michael Bell remarked: "He just loves it here and he'll probably come back to win this race next year to make it three from three. McGillycuddy Reeks and Kim Tinkler sprang a 20/1 surprise when striding away with the King Richard III Stakes, beating Al Reit by a decisive 3½L. The closing Monkhill Limited Stakes went to Florentino who benefited from a strong Alan Munro ride in the dying strides as his mount was all out to repel the challenge of Nichol Fifty. The jockey was found to be guilty of irresponsible riding aboard Erro Codigo in the Dianne Nursery as three horses were hampered when Munro moved from the rail into the centre of the track. Erro Codigo was disqualified and placed last after passing the post in fourth. "It's disappointing but I guess it was a fair decision," commented Munro.
