It is brighter than any star visible from Britain except Sirius. Venus By mid-November Venus will become visible low in the south- east before sunrise. Mars is brightening steadily, and will move into Leo passing north of Regulus on December 8. Saturn Evening object in Aquarius. The Moon is new on December 2. First quarter - December 9. Astronomers working in London may have found up to seven more satellites bringing Saturn's total to 18. Confirmation may not come until next year when the rings will be edgewise on. The remotest galaxy known has now been imaged, indicating that the universe may be much younger than was previously believed. This will be the subject of the January Sky at Night programme.
