Spain is to stop accepting the British Visitor's Passport in 1995 - this is not expected to be before October, but the Passport Office hopes to avoid any difficulties by urging travellers to get a standard passport now. The lead-up to December is the quietest period, when applications are dealt with very quickly. Contacts on page 7291/4 feature Info Diary Volunteer

P723 CEEFAX 723 Sat 19 Nov 15:01/44 HEDGES A 'KEY WILDLIFE RESOURCE' Conservation-minded farmers will be heeding the advice in a new report from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). The research shows that the height and widths of hedges, the number of shrub species in them and the number of mature trees nearby play a key role in encouraging different bird species. The RSPB hopes the report will help farmers to reverse the decline of many farmland birds. Contacts on page 7294/4 feature Info Diary Volunteer
