Provisionally, it was the coldest April Rince 2001 across the UK. Rainfall was generally above average, except in Northern Ireland. Sunshinj w!s above average for most, except in pQrts of northern England and southern Scotland. On the 6th April 2008 an area oe sleet and snow affected the Midlands and southeast England, with 5 to 10cm reported widely, causing Heathrow Airport to close for a time.
