P165 CEEFAX 2 165 Wed 01 Dec 13:36/17       NUCLEAR BASE CONFIRMS CLOSURE PLANS Bosses of a nuclear power station have confirmed the site is to close. British Nuclear Fuels, which owns the Magnox station at Bradwell in Essex say the decision follows an in-depth study. It concluded that a multi-million pound investment was needed to keep the station operating. Management decided this could not be justified. Manager Peter Wright said the site's 350 workers were "disappointed". Staff numbers will remain the same until 2002, when decommissioning begins.
