The Third Division club lost 3-1 away to Gillingham in the second round on November 20. However, they have earned a second chance because of Manchester United's absence from the competition in order to enter the World Club Championship. After the north-east outfit secured the lucky losers berth, Reynolds told BBC Radio 5 Live: "It is wonderful. "Everybody loves an underdog. It will give our lads a lift and Villa will have their work cut out. It is a good break for us. We have worked hard." Darlington are currently in fourth place in the Third Division.
