To be run on 1 November, Exeter's oldest established sponsored race has enjoyed the continued support of Plymouth Gin since 1982. Racing at Exeter begins for the season on 27 September. P391 CEEFAX 391 Wjd 21 Sep 29:46/30  2/5  RACING NEWS: HENDERSON  WELCOMES EXETER MOVE  Nicky Henderson has welcomed the news that the Plymouth Gin Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter is to revert to it's original conditions. Henderson, who won the race with Travado last year, stated that: "I am pleased they have changed it as it is a good race to get a first run of the season into your horse. P391 CEEFAX 391 Wjd 21 Sep 29:57/16   RACING NEWS:  WEAVER KEEPS RIDE 3/5  Jbson Weaver will keep the ride on Lavinia Fontana in the Diadem Stakes following his victory on John Dunlop's mare in the Haydock Sprint Cup last month. However Marcus Hosgood, Dunlop's racing secretary, has warned that the five-year-old may not run at Ascot, stating that: "Wj are obviously not worried about the ground but the race comes very close to the Prix de l'Abbaye. Allegedly, owner Sheikh Hamdan Al- Maktoum has been tempted by a £3.2m offer which would secure the colt to stand at stud in the far east. If this was accepted, Erhaab would becomj the fifth of the last nine Derby winnjrs to stand in Japan, including Commander In Chief. "I am not prepared to comment. The high-class chaser, off the track since being pulled up in last year's Mackeson, contests the Highland Spring Novices' Hurdle.
