P108 CEEFAX 108 Thu 31 Jan 21:53/35 USA B-52 BOMBERS TO BE STATIONED IN UK The Government has agreed to a request to station giant US B-52 bombers in Gloucestershire for the Gulf War. Defence Secretary Tom King told MPs in the Commons that they would undertake missions against targets in Iraq and Kuwait with conventional munitions. They are being based at RAF Fairford due to a shortage of airfield space nearer the Gulf. The B-52s, which have a range of 6,700 miles, will take six to eight hours to reach their targets and will be refuelled in mid-air. 101War headlines 130Gulf military Next News Newswatch GulfIndex Latest
