P163 CEEFAX 163 Thu 31 Jan 21:59/24 NEW PORT REGULATIONS FOR FISHERMEN The Government has published new regulations designed to force fishermen to stay in port for eight days a month - in a bid to conserve stocks. The scheme, which comes into effect at midnight, introduces fines of up to £50,000 for fishing without a licence. Skippers who do not give notice of the eight days when they intend to stay in port will be fined and their licence suspended. The Scottish Fishermen's Federation says it is considering challenging the new regulations in the courts. 101War headlines 130Gulf military Next News Politics GulfIndex Newswatch
