Instantly recognisable to viewers as drinkers of a certain brand of lager, the duo are also known on the comedy club circuit as The Oblivion Boys. The comedy crime-busters are the latest in a long line of macho, streetwise detectives, and form an integral part of the Really Serious Crime Squad. This may be something of a misnomer for their elite undercover set-up. 613 Films for the week 630 Radio Next Page TV Extra GulfIndex TV Plus

His office is crammed with vital modern crime-fighting technology, like freezer filing cabinet and microwave computer. Further back-up comes from Detective Clinton Clinton (Jim Findley), a black undercover agent who is so good at posing as a drug dealer that he is constantly being arrested as one. And bland Plain Clothes Detectives One and Two (Neil Mullarkey and Simon Godley) lend dubious support, despite being somewhat image-conscious.  Next Page TV Extra GulfIndex TV Plus

Lazarus realises that this could be more than an ecological mishap so, with shrewd decisiveness, he prompts Dingwall to act as a decoy and track down Mr Big - or is it Mr Quite Big? Meanwhile, sultry Detective Beverly Armitage (Race Davies) grapples with Dingwall's amorous advances and her urge to resign. And Plain Clothes One and Two hunt for trendy footwear to wear for undercover operations at an Acid House Party.  Next Page TV Extra GulfIndex TV Plus

The rather school-boy humour pounces on literal meanings, then skips almost imperceptibly within the polished dialogue from one witticism to another. In this respect, it is similar to the film Airplane's strain of humour. Arden (Dingwall) says that by treating nonsense realistically, any subject is appropriate for their humour.
