The 41-year-old's appointment at St Andrews marks his return to management after almost a year when he resigned at West Ham after just eight months. The Scottish international managed Swindon between 1984 and 1989 taking them from the Fourth Division to the Second Division play-offs. He left the Robins for Upton Park in the summer of 1989 before being charged with a breach of rules regarding a £5,000 bet in January, 1988. 5,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Next Page Football Headlines M/Sport

Birmingham City, now in their second season in the Third Division after spending 97 years in the top two flights, offer a difficult challenge for Macari's comeback. In recent years the likes of John Bond, Gerry Pendrey and Dave MacKay have failed to find a route back to former glories. Before them neither Jim Smith or Ron Saunders could win any honours. 5,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Next Page Football Headlines M/Sport
