P616 CEEFAX 616 Thu 28 Feb 22:26/36    1/4 Ambient meals from Sharwoods, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda and Safeway were tested and compared to their equivalent cook-chill meals. Ambient foods have a shelf-life of nine months and do not need to be kept in a chill cabinet. In both the lasagne and vegetable curry categories, the cook-chill meals proved much better. Tesco's own label brands came top in both categories. In the chicken korma category, Sharwoods ambient meal came top. Sauvignon Blanc from the Curico Valley - £2.69 from Victoria Wine. Oz Clarke recommended two sparkling wines: Chardonnay Brut Le Baron de Beaumont - £4.65 from Waitrosj. P616 CEEFAX 616 Thu 28 Feb 22:19/21    4/4 PRAWN GUMBO Heat the oil in a large sautee pan. Fry onions, celery, peppers and okra for about 10 minutes until soft. Add tomatoes, tomato puree, thyme, chilli powder, seasoning and 250ml/8fl oz water. Bring to boil and simmer for 30 minutes. Add prawns for 7-10 minutes. Check seasoning and garnish with parsley. Food and Drink will be back in the autumn.
