P108 CEEFAX 108 Thu 7 Mar 21:43/46 CHANGES SUGGESTED TO WAY JUDGES ARE APPOINTED The Law Society has suggested radical changes to the way judges are appointed to make them more representative of society. The Society says a special commission should be set up to advise the Lord Chancellor on the selection of judges. It says modern appointment methods such as tests and interviews should be used instead of secret recommendations made by senior legal figures. Such a commission should be made up of judges, lawyers and those outside the profession, the Society recommends. 101Headlines 150Latest Next News Newswatch Headlines Latest
