P174 CEEFAX 174 Fri 5 Nov 16:11/31    FROM   NEWSROUND  GIANT PANDA OFFER REFUSED BY TAIWAN Taiwan has rejected an offer of two rare giant pandas from China. The animals were offered as a mark of friendship, but Taiwan officials said the trip would break a ban on transporting pandas. They said their country's heat and huimidity would also endanger the creatures, who could become very ill as a result. Environmental groups have praised the decision and have criticised China's offer.
