The Department insists there is no evidence of the HIV virus being transmitted by these products and it says patients are not at risk. The NHS, however, does still import some blood products. But, those like Factor Eight used for preventing blood clotting, are heat treated to kill off any virus that may have slipped through the screening process. It said the company Immuno received blood plasma from the firm at the heart of the German scandal, UB Plasma. Immuno then used this plasma in the manufacture of the blood products concerned, which were tested for HIV and were either heat treated or fractionated to kill off any virus.  Next News Flash World Finance
