Ms Tweedie, aged 57, who worked for The Guardian newspaper for 22 years, was diagnosed as having the debilitating and incurable disease ovjr the summer. She was admitted to the Edenhall hospice in Belsize Park, north London, yesterday after her condition deteriorated. P117 CEEFAX 117 Fri 12 Nov 16:11/16 2/2 HOME WRITER JILL TWEEDIE DIES Jill Tweedie, aged 57, who died earlier today, was named Woman Journalist of the Year in 1971. In her 22 years at The Guardian, Ms Tweedie often championed feminist issues, including rape in marriage for which she was vilified by fellow columnists. Later, she said, "Yet now there is a law against rape in marriage." She wrote several books including Letters from a Faint-hearted Feminist and an autobiography called Eating Children.
