He was also disqualified as a company director for seven years after he pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to fraudulently misleading the City watchdog, Fimbra. He had been facing a jail term of up to seven years and his guilty plea came two weeks into the trial. Levitt, who was known as one of Britain's wealthiest men, lied to financial watchdogs in an effort to keep his debt-ridden company afloat The bankrupt financial adviser used £900,000 belonging to his client, novelist Frederick Forsyth, for his own company instead of buying bonds And in an unsuccessful bid to keep trading, Levitt said his company had received some £21m in fees as a result of personal advisory work.
