P379 CEEFAX 379 Fri 3 Dec 16:12/59  2/2  YACHTING: WHITBREAD  ROUND THE WORLD RACE  The Italian yacht Brooksfield is missing at sea after sending a distress signal on Friday morning. The signal was sent at 0718 GMT but Brooksfield failed to respond when attempts were made to contact her. Winston and La Poste, the two nearest yachts to Brooksfield's last known position, have turned back and are searching for her. Winston reports 30-40 knots true wind speed and estimates they are 160 miles away from that position.
