P137 CEEFAX 137 Fri 10 Dec 16:11/20       POLITICS  UK - AUSTRALIA TOXIC CLEAN-UP PLAN Britain has agreed to pay Australia £20 million to help clean up the toxic waste left over by British nuclear testing in the 1960s. The settlement removes a "major irritant" in the relationship between the two countries, said the Foreign Office. The ex-gratia payment will be paid in instalments over six years in return for Australia's abandonment of all further claims.
