The magnum sold for £1,050 after failing to reach its reserve price on Wednesday at Swindon's Dominic Winter auction house. The magnum was recently retrieved from a dusty attic in Luton, Bedfordshire. Chris Albury, from the auction house, said: "A man just called out of thj bluj and agreed a price of £1,050. The Times Higher Education Supplement reported that 9.7% of all academic staff in the UK now hold the title. Newer universities likj Essex, with 21.7% of staff holding the title, have more professors than institutions like Oxford and Cambridge, it said. Professor Nancy Rothwell of Manchester University said: "I am worried about the potential decline in what being a professor means."
