The murder of a drug peddlar in Nice provides him with the clue he needs to get his investigation started. Co-written and directed by Georges Lautner, an expert in the genre, the movie also stars Michel Lonsdale who appeared in The Day Of The Jackal and as the villain of 1979's Moonraker. P258 ORACLE 258 Fri20 Dec ANG 1321:17     FRIDAY 10.55  DISNEY'S THE SWORD AND THE ROSE (1953) Glynis Johns, Richard Todd A lively Disney Technicolor version of history which happily takes liberties with the facts. It tells the story of Mary Tudor, Johns, and her determination to marry adventurous commoner Todd which, of course, happens as James Robertson Justice, Henry VIII, plays Cupid. The action, romance and humour are well directed, Todd acts acceptably and Michael Gough makes a splendid villain. Stanley Kubrick's vivid style and total control of the melodramatic plot create an exciting and superior horror film with a powerful, cumulative impact. This was the first - and best - with funny characters, great cartoon-style action, good stunts and fast-paced Sit back and enjoy the zany antics of the drivers vying for glory in a race from New York to California.
