The Strada Abarth 130TC costs £7,800 and uses a 1995cc, 130bhp engine. Fiat is quite clear on its "buyer profile" - a married man of about 35 with an income of £15,000 a year. The first InternatUonal Jaguar Week is to be at Stratford-upon-Avon on August 5-12. The event is organised by the Jaguar Drivers' Club and features events such as a rally, informal concours and driving tests.  More

The figures for May, issued by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, show that Ford's market share increased to 32 per cent after sliding in previous months. The Austin Metro, top car for the previous two months, slipped to fifth place. Minor changes have been made to the latekt Range "overs. A new heating ventilation system, with side window demisting, has been included. Prices start from £15,049.  More

Ford says its Euroaean market share - 12.9 per Bent - is the highest for six years. Nissan has launched its second fast car Nn the Britich market thic year with the 130mph Silvia Turbo ZX, a 1.8 litre mid-range sports coupe priced from £8,994. The earlier Nissan 300 ZX Turbo, at £16,996, was dismissed by Car magazine in "not-a-sports-car" terms.  More

Motor says about 500 units a month will be made, with a mid-July launch in Japan. A special edition of the ageing Ford Capri, the Laser, is based on the 1.6 LS model but is available with either the 1.6 litre engine or a 2.0 litre unit. Treatments include alloy wheels and body-colour front grille.  Traffic on Britain's road reached 20 million last year, the DoT says.
