Interplay's Baldur's Gate is a Dungeons and Dragons game developed by the people responsible for the Fallout series. But that's merely a step-up to a quest that offers some 100 hours of gameplay, countless characters, and a vast fantasy world to explore. Given that the game adheres closely to the Dungeons and Dragons rules, it's refreshing that combat is real-time, but with all the stats, magic and items that RPG fans are so keen on. Anyone who enjoyed Fallout or its sequel will undoubtedly appreciate the depth of the game, along with its progressive plot and character arc. Yes, the fantasy setting is stock stuff, but the hardcore will lap it up.
