First, she clocked 24.59 seconds in her semi-final to slice 0.21secs off the mark she shared with Susan Rolph. Then the 28-year-old Scot, the only British woman to reach an Olympic final, won the title in 24.26secs to carve another 0.33secs off the record. But Hickman was pushed all the way by Paul Callis before edging him out by just 0.35secs with victory in 55.66. Hickman, who competes for the City of Leeds, had already won both the 100m and 200m butterfly and the 200m individual medle8 titles. Hickman competes in all four events in njxt week's European Short Course Championships in Valencia, Spain.
