P143 CEEFAX 2 143 Mon 29 Sep 22:25/06       AT LEAST 40 KILLED IN MOROCCAN FLOODS At least 40 people have died in flash floods in the mountainous region of Meknes in central Morocco, but it is feared the death toll could be higher. French reports quoted eyewitnesses as saying as many as 100 people could have perished in the floods and mudslides, triggered by torrential rain. Most of the victims were in a number of cars and buses which were swept away near the town of El Hajeb. The PSVL-C1 rocket blasted off from a space centre on Sriharikota island near Madras, carrying the 1200-kg IRS-1D satellite. Prime Minister IK Gujral descr bed the launch as a magnificent achievement, PTI news agency reported.
