The port is one of five that will be fitted with a new weighbridge to monitor the increasing amount of freight traffic. Two lorries crashed at Leatherhead, Surrey, and caused a 10-mile tailback. Motorists, keen to see the injured driver, slowed down - causing a tailback stretching 30 miles to Kent on the opposite carriageway. Marina scheme inquiry opens A public inquiry opens today into plans to build a luxury marina at Margate in Kent. Hampshire East MP Michael Mates chairs the Commons Defence Committee, which has been looking at the army's new anti-tank weapon. The report says the LAW 80 system needs updating quickly to beat new Soviet tanks. P206 ORACLE 206 Tue17 Oct TVS 1945:18 5/7 DEPUTY HEAD IN ASSAULTS ON GIRLS The deputy head of a north Hampshire school has been given a 12-months jail sentence for indecent assaults on little girls. Forty-year-old Frank Inglutt of the Post House, Aldermaston, Berks, has now resigned and says he will never teach again. He pleaded guilty at Winchester Crown Court to indecently assaulting two of his girl pupils aged 8 and 9 years. His concurrent jail sentences, of 12 months and 6 months, were suspended for two years.
