P106 ORACLE 106 Tue31 Oct ITV 1944:07   GOVT SET TO GIVE UP  JAGUAR GOLDEN SHARE A massive takeover battle for Jaguar is looming after the Government gave up its right to keep the car maker British Trade and Industry Secretary Nicholas Ridley said the Govt's golden share can bj waived if 75% of shareholders agree. He told MPs it would end uncertainty but chairman Sir John Egan said he was surprised and had not been consulted. Daimlir Benz,GM and Ford are intetested in Jaguar but the golden share limits their stake to 15%. Union convenor Keith White said: "They are throwing us to the wolvjs."
