Michael Gilfilin, 30, of Grangetown, is charged with the murder of John Purbrick who lived in the same block of flats. Beverley Tumelty, aged 28, of Llanishen, Cardiff, suffered serious burns when the airbag in her new Mondeo car was activated and set her clothes on fire. She suffered burns to her stomach and chest in the crash. The Ford company said it had never come across a case like it, and was investigating.
