Viewers will see Holby City's Accident and Emergency department go up in a mass of flames. The cast had to work against a backdrop of intense heat and smoke while being drenched by a sprinkler system to complete scenes. Producer, Geraint Morris says: "It was an ambitious scene to tackle, we've had air disasters, cliff rescues, boats sinking but burning Casualty down was pretty tricky!

They exist only in the memory of a computer and their behaviour is modelled on real leaf-cutting ants. ■ Playing the pure and religious Joanna in Mr Wroe's Virgins is a change of role for actress Lia Williams. In the past she has only played psychopaths and mad, dangerous women but she thinks her role as an obsessional virgin is not all that different.

After completing filming The American Way of Birth for BBC2's Birthnight the team gave Jessica a mirror which wolf-whistles. But the crew later found out that she had given the mirror to her friend, the writer Maya Angelou. Jessica had given Maya the gift for good luck when she was to appear at the Presidential inauguration.
