The 50 foot high magnolia which was planted in 1901, has bloomed early this year with deep pink flowers for visitors to admire. The gardens at Overbecks are open all year round from 1000 to 2000 or sunset if earlier. The tree, badly damaged in the 1990 storms, is becoming a threat to visitors and the property and will be felled at the end of February. Gardening staff plan to replace the Cupressus with two Monkey Puzzle trees; research has shown that these were a feature of the garden in earlier times.  For details of opening times please ring 0392 881691 Next Page Read Hear CmntyInfo Religion

Work on the roof revealed traces of paint from the 1870's, when this Gothic Revival house was built; the Hall is being restored to these original colours. The Court is an example of the work of the architect William Burgess and the restoration of the ceiling marks another step forward in the restoration of the building.  Ring Jacqui Connor on: 0392 881691 Next Page Read Hear CmntyInfo Religion
