Its house price index for August, whichis usually slow for sales, shows a 1.1%rise against 1% in July, although the annual change fell from 17.9% to 16.6%.The average price rose to £129,258. After repayments, outstanding debt on plastic increased by £396m, well up on June's subdued £199m rise, but below May's £516m increase.
