While this form of investment can bring rewards, there are risks too. It should only be considered if you are ready to lose the sum invested in its entirety. Selections made and opinions given are those of the panellists and are not necessarily shared by the BBC. * Investors are recommended always to seek professional advice. P206 CEEFAX 206 Sat 19 Nov 15:00/22 2/8 CEEFAX STOCK MARKET PANEL Robin Boyle Dunbar Boyle & Kingsley/London Overview: Clouds lifted from bond markets following the US interest rate rise. Share buy-backs were the main focus of equity markets. The Boots buy-back led to speculation that other retailers such as Argos and GUS would follow. National Power also revealed its plans which should help February's share offer. De La Rue reported good interims and benefitted from the public's enthusiastic response to the National Lottery. 18 November UT Panel Feature New Arrivals Savings
P206 CEEFAX 206 Sat 19 Nov 15:00/43 3/8 CEEFAX STOCK MARKET PANEL Robin Boyle Dunbar Boyle & Kingsley/London A number of regional breweries are are traded occasionally under Stock Exchange Rule 4.2(a). Those with low PE's and strong asset backing include Ann Street, Shepherd Neame, Surrey Free Inns and, following a capital shake-up, Unicorn Inns. Other modestly rated brewers include George Gale, Hyde's Anvil, St Austell, Daniel Thwaites and Wadworth. Although these shares offer good value for money they may be difficult to trade. Buy. 18 November UT Panel Feature New Arrivals Savings
P206 CEEFAX 206 Sat 19 Nov 15:04/11 4/8 CEEFAX STOCK MARKET PANEL Barry Frieslander Fairmount Group/Bolton FT-SE (3127.5): This week's 0.75% rate increase by the Fed has yet to be fully digested by world markets, One way or the other equities will not make appreciable gains without the support of bonds. We will have to wait and see if the Chancellor's Budget on Tuesday 29 November will benefit our own bond market. The outlook is positive. Look for a re-test of 3,100 in the short term with 3,300 by the year-end and 3,600 in early 1995. 18 November UT Panel Feature New Arrivals Savings
P206 CEEFAX 206 Sat 19 Nov 15:01/21 5/8 CEEFAX STOCK MARKET PANEL Barry Frieslander Fairmount Group/Bolton Lonrho (163p): The share is now well into overbought readings so the current range of 160-5p would be a good time to take a useful profit on bullish positions opened at the beginning of April around 135-40p. Traded option dealers should consider opening put options around current levels looking for a re-test of the 135-40p range. Long term, as pointed out in April, the outlook is quietly positive. Buy again in the 135-40p range. 18 November UT Panel Feature New Arrivals Savings
P206 CEEFAX 206 Sat 19 Nov 15:05/12 6/8 CEEFAX STOCK MARKET PANEL Barry Frieslander Fairmount Group/Bolton Lucas (211p): With the share over- bought and my target of 190p, set at the time, now more than achieved now is a good time to take part, if not all, of your profit on bullish positions recommended at the end of June around 158p. Buy the share and/or open traded option call positions around 195p, but with a stop-loss at 175p, looking for a resumption in the uptrend. The outlook is positive. 18 November UT Panel Feature New Arrivals Savings
P206 CEEFAX 206 Sat 19 Nov 15:02/12 7/8 CEEFAX STOCK MARKET PANEL Simon Weighell Adams & Nevile/London Overview: The market read the Federal Reserve's 0.75% rate rise as a satisfactory compromise - a half point would have been too little and a full point would have appeared panic-driven. The upward revision to UK third quarter growth to 0.9% implies 4.2% annualised growth - too high. With insufficient levels of expenditure on capacity growth, pressure for a rate rise is growing - watch for a half point in December or January. 18 November UT Panel Feature New Arrivals Savings
P206 CEEFAX 206 Sat 19 Nov 15:02/06 8/8 CEEFAX STOCK MARKET PANEL Simon Weighell Adams & Nevile/London We remain positive on P&O (640p). The company will see a healthy recovery in its cyclical businesses in the medium term. The channel tunnel start-up will impact short- term earnings, but the company remains a strong buy. Farnell Electronics (528p) will also see recovery in its European and UK operations and increased margins at Multicomponents, a recent purchase. Not cheap on a 22x p/e, but prospects remain excellent 18 November UT Panel Feature New Arrivals Savings
