P725 CEEFAX 725 Sat 19 Nov 15:01/57        NEW FACES IN MP DISABILITY POSTS Tom Clarke MP has been appointed to the Labour Front Bench to represent the party's views on the rights of disabled people. In 1986 Mr Clarke piloted the Disabled Persons (Services, Consultation and Representation) Act through the House of Commons. P725 CEEFAX 725 Sat 19 Nov 15:01/24        SURVEY SHOWS LIMITED ACCESS TO MPS Disabled people have poor access to MP's surgeries, says a survey from RADAR and the Parliamentary All-Party Disablement Group. The survey found that over half of MPs have steps at the entrance to their surgery, a quarter hold their surgery on upper floors, and only one in six produces materials in formats other than ordinary print. P725 CEEFAX 725 Sat 19 Nov 15:01/41        DEAF ARTISTS NEEDED FOR EXHIBITION If you are a deaf or partially deaf artist working with oil on canvas, sculpture, cartoons, or any other medium, this is for you. HEAR NO EVIL is a deaf arts project based in Liverpool and supported by North West Disability Arts Forum and North West Arts Board (NWDAF). As part of its renovation a bedroom with an en-suite shower room has been designed for disabled guests - this has its own entrance, which is tamped as the main entrance to the house has five steps. It also details facilities for wheelchair users in the trains on each route - and the addresses of area managers. The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association Adventure Group is offering ski training, cross country ski-ing in Italy, and Dowhill Ski-ing in France. P725 CEEFAX 725 Sat 19 Nov 15:01/33        CHANCE TO GET ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE A new factsheet from Age Concern explains how thousands of older people can claim extra benefits from the government. Attendance Allowance is available to people aged 65 and over who have care needs because of an illness or disability - people eligible for this allowance can receive up to an extra £45.70 per week.
