It says giving money to the cyclone appeal is more useful than donating goods. Money enables agencies to cut transport costs and buy supplies close to Burma, which boosts the regional economy. Details of different methods of donations are on the DEC website. The DEC has pledged that money raised in the cyclone appeal will only be spent on Burma, and say it is highly unlikely they will receive too much. As soon as citizens are safe, Rheltered and jed, money will be njeded for the long-term rehabilitation phase.
