P124 Teletext 124 Jul17 16:17:14 —— On Wednesday's TV — —— I do not share C4's giddy excitement over the return of Ally McBeal. Her "Little Miss Neurotic" persona is deeply unattractive to us Brits, however much Americans might twitter over her. You wouldn't want to take herdown the pub. I don't think much of the new sub-Sharon Stone icemaiden either, though Tracey Ullman's good value as the therapist. ——————————————————————————————————3/5—— Catch up with your favourite soap 118 Letters to: Sam Brady, PO Box 297, London SW6 1XT. P124 Teletext 124 Jul17 16:11:24 —— On Thursday's TV —— —— Hey-ho, here comes another smart-alec American show that C4 would like to pass off as the Next Big Thing... But I can't see The Sopranos working over here any more than Sex In The Citydid. The idea of a mafia boss getting therapy might make a snappy Hale and Pace sketch but, as a series with US-style "irony" instead of proper gags, it's a dead loss. ——————————————————————————————————4/5—— Catch up with your favourite soap 118 Letters to: Sam Brady, PO Box 297, London SW6 1XT. P124 Teletext 124 Jul17 16:11:12 —— On Friday's TV ———— —— I'm not generally a fan of themed TV revivals — but Two Ronnies Night (BBC1) was a treat. Barker's comic timing is superb, and he's also a clever writer, but my favourite was always Corbett. I only have to see him and I'm tittering. Barker doesn't want to return to showbiz, fair enough, but I wish writers would come up with scripts for Corbett. His talent has been underused in recent years. ——————————————————————————————————5/5—— Catch up with your favourite soap 118 Letters to: Sam Brady, PO Box 297, London SW6 1XT.
