Mr MacKenzie, now head of Talk Radio, told the Commons Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport that that taxpayers should not fund broadcasting.The BBC's "economic and political power" had prevented the development ofa "vibrant commercial network" of radiostations, as found in the US, he added.Taxpayer funding has meant the BBC has an unfair advantage, he told MPs.
