John Cooper told Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court he first thought Gary Chick was drunk but later realised he had a serious head wound. Paul Rowley, 28, from Berkeley Road in Clacton, denies murdering Mr Chick in November 1996. It is alleged Mr Rowley, who had been banned from Mr Chick's nightclub, coshed the bouncer to death.
