The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will be among guests at the event, to include performances by Placido Domingo and members of the Royal Ballet. It is being broadcast on BBC2 at 8pm and on BBC Radio Three at 9.35pm. The Covent Garden venue was closed in July 1997 to undergo restoration.
