THE GRINCH (PG) OUT NOW Based on Theodor Seuss Geisel's poem, the Grinch is a pot-bellied, yeti-style green monster who lives with his dog above the town of Whoville. He hates the rodent-featured "Whos" but most of all he hates their version of Christmas - known as Who-bilation - and all the schmaltz that entails. P153 SKY MOVIEMAX 153 06 Dec 2348:32SKY TEXT 3/4 THE GRINCH (cont) BARRY: All this is true to the originalbut in expanding the story the film destroys its innocence. Dr Seuss's Whos were charming, inoffensive little creatures. In the film they're rather venal, greedy, selfish and immoral. Suddenly the magic has gone and we're into political correctness and nudge- nudge stuff for grown-ups. WIN A PLAYSTATION2 + 3 GAMES P168More Gossip Leisure TV Index
P153 SKY MOVIEMAX 153 06 Dec 2324:04SKY TEXT 4/4 THE GRINCH (cont) BARRY: A lot of money was thrown at this movie and it looks good - but it'sover-elaborate, cluttered where simple would have been better. I can't help feeling that it was a mistake to havj Sir Anthony Hopkins link the action in a voice over by reading from Dr Seuss's poem. What this serves to point up is how much less subtle and witty the movie's dialoguj is. I WANT TO GET AWAY!!! LATE BARGAINS SKY ONE 205More Gossip Leisure TV Index
