David Price, who earned £100,000 a year as head of the Legal and General branch in Cardiff, has won his industrial tribunal claim of unfair dismissal. Police say a combination of snow, ice and freezing drizzle on many untreated roads throughout the country is making driving conditions treacherous. Armed police surrounded a house at Mountain Ash in Mid Glamorgan earlier today because they thought one of the men they wanted to question had a gun. The company has told Welsh MPs the expansion will boost the region's economy but it complained the attitude of planners was hardening against new opencast sites. David Hunt announced an £800,000 package of financial help this afternoon after the Arts Council said it would be giving the WNO an extra £300,000.
