Both can be hopeful of medal success at the first major international meet of the year, but there is little chance of gold for the rest of the 23-man squad. John Regis will not be there to defend his 200m crown, deciding instead to stay at home and train for the summer. Liz McColgan is also absent as she believes she is not yet sharp enough to win gold in the 3,000m - despite a fine performance in Glasgow last week. His time of 6.55 secs was quicker than any other Seville-bound sprinter has clocked this winter and equalled the fastest 60m ever witnessed in Britain. Even with Ben Johnson in fine comeback form, it makes the 30-year-old the firm favourite to win a world title.  Next Page GB Team Headlines Football

After years of watching the heels of Steve Cram, Seb Coe and Peter Elliott in the 800m, the 28-year-old is about to become Britain's flag bearer. The Huddersfield athlete has experienced a sudden upsurge of form this winter, winning the AAA title and beating American Ray Brown at Glasgow. But for a man whose previous finest moment was winning the Yorkshire 400m title, coping with the likes of Kenyan Paul Ereng could prove to be too much.  Next Page GB Team Headlines Football
