P446 ORACLE 446 Sun30 Sep C4 2358:24 4-Tel FILM REVIEW Beauty And Denise The highlight of what is an ingenious and extremely amusing thriller is the marvellous relationship set up between jaded cop Denise and glamorous Jackie. Ribbed at work by her mindlessly chauvinist colleagues, Denise returns home to her pet parrot Kojak who has a great line in famous TV cop phrases. P446 ORACLE 446 Sun30 Sep C4 2352:51 4-Tel FILM REVIEW Beauty And Denise "I thrive on hostility," Denise tells Jackie. "Don't shift into friendly". But circumstances force the two to forma partnership in which each has something to learn from the other. But it is the dialogue which shines, sharp, genuinely witty and on-target. Cagney and Lacey? Who needs 'em? Give these two a series and sit back. David Carradine is suitably menacing asthe villain but in the end the story takes second place to the style - whichis exemplary.
