P546 ORACLE 546 Sun30 Sep C4 2358:46 3/6 Weekend Pick of the week - Indies Indie columnist Jon Homer was pleased this week to hear the news that The Go-Betweens hadnWt split, but were in fact working on 'solo projects'. The first solo offering is "Danger in the Past", an album from band Robert Forster. The songs here "provide the listener with an intimate procession of images" thought Homer. Forster "writes love songs of a decidedly offbeat nature, there's no endless highways or fast cars for him." Metal >Beat Box 540 Chart Chat 547Chart Chat Charts Network Chart Buzz
P546 ORACLE 546 Sun30 Sep C4 2356:13 4/6 Weekend Pick of the week - Metal Kirk Blows wasn't very impressed with "Pain Killer", the new album from JudasPriest. "The band are trying to recapture earlier days, never a good idea" reckoned Kirk. He was more enthusiastic about Iron Maiden's current live show however. "Beg, borrow or steal if you have to, but whatever you do, make sure you get to see Iron Maiden on their current tour" wrote Kirk. He saw them in Oxford and they were "simply magnificent." P546 ORACLE 546 Sun30 Sep C4 2356:51 5/6 Weekend Pick of the week - Dance Justin Ellery emerged from the American wilderness this week to file a column from downtown San Francisco. The news from America wasn't very cheerful however. Motown star Mary Wells is battling against cancer and Brandon Mitchell of Wrecks N Effects was shot dead last week. On a brighter note Justin wrote about the new Gwen Guthrie album. "Reportedly her best since 'Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But The Rent'" he wrote.
