Those earning more than £70,000 benefited by an average of £31,690 a year since 1979, compared with £170 a year for those earning less than £5,000, said Mrs Margaret Beckett, shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury. Those earning between £60,000 and £70,000 were an average of £10,110 a year to the good. It's a Personal Equity Plan, to be managed by Standard Life, Europe's largest mutual life insurance company. The new unit trust is called Global Advantage.
