P112 CEEFAX 112 Fri 5 Nov 16:23/10 HOME BAe TO CUT A FURTHER 300 POSITIONS British Aerospace has announced it is cutting 300 jobs at two ammunition factories because of reductions in defence spending. More than 200 workers at the Royal Ordnance factory in Birtley, near Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and 97 at the Royal Ordnance site in Glascoed, Gwent, will lose their jobs. Compulsory redundancies could not be ruled out, the company said. British Aerospace said the cuts reflected the "reduced defence spending in the UK and worldwide".
