P115 CEEFAX 115 Fri 5 Nov 16:13/56       HOME  MORE MONEY TO GO INTO BBC SCHEDULES BBC Director General John Birt has said that £50 million will be spent on new programmes next year. But he hinted to BBC Radio 4's Today programme that job losses and cuts in overheads might be needed to pay for the new programmes. The programmes had to be financed on the back of a continuing programme of savings, Mr Birt said. He agreed there had been too many repeats in last summer's schedules but said they could only be reduced by investing in new programmes.  Next News Parl'ment World Main News
