P115 CEEFAX 115 Fri 5 Nov 16:13/56 HOME MORE MONEY TO GO INTO BBC SCHEDULES BBC Director General John Birt has said that £50 million will be spent on new programmes next year. But he hinted to BBC Radio 4's Today programme that job losses and cuts in overheads might be needed to pay for the new programmes. The programmes had to be financed on the back of a continuing programme of savings, Mr Birt said.
