The accusation that documents relating to Mr Nadir's defence were dealt with improperly, was first made public by Michael Mates during his resignation speech in the House of Commons in June. Documents seized during the Polly Peck raid in 1990 were put in sealed bags so that an independent lawyer could later decide if they had legal privilege.  Home 110 Politics 130 World 160 Summary 102 Despatch 190 Index 199 Next News Home News Main News CityHeads

The Attorney General admitted that the SFO had opened the sealed bags mistakenly, and aplogised for wrongly distributing some of them to the prosecuting team, and the administrators of Polly Peck. Two weeks ago, the SFO admitted there was no credibility to the accusation that Mr Nadir had been involved in a plot to bribe his trial judge.  Home 110 Politics 130 World 160 Summary 102 Despatch 190 Index 199 Next News Home News Main News CityHeads
