"We were totally unquestioning because there was nothing to compare it to," he says. "When we started learning English our text had a picture of Eton College. He received an Iron Cross for bravery after rescuing other soldiers. The decoration bought him to the attention of Hitler Youth leader Artur Axmann. "He wanted me to go to Berlin and be presented to the Fuhrer at a reception for his birthday," Armin says.
