Jason Cundy put Chelsea ahead with a header and Graham Stuart added number two after another set-piece move involving England's Dennis Wise. But Villa clawed their way back, Tony Cascarino nodding the first and Platt completing the revival with a penalty after Cascarino was pushed. Liverpool would have won by at least double the margin had their finishing been as accurate as their approach work Local boy Mike Marsh made an impressive full debut in the No 7 shirt graced by by Kevin Keegan and Kenny Dalglish and was a constant worry to Spurs' defence. There was some good news for Spurs, now without a win in five matches, Paul Gascoigne lasting the full 90 minutes for only the second time in two months. Walsh dropped a third minute corner at Ian Wright's feet to gift the England striker his 25th goal of the season.
